Eco Products
At La Giardiniera Sustainable eyewear manufacturer , we embrace a fully sustainable approach starting from our facilities, production plants, machinery, production cycle and final product. We base our commitment on 6 principles:
-
Reduce consumption of natural resources.
-
Minimize the environmental impact of production.
-
Lower energy consumption.
-
Reuse or recycle waste materials.
-
Eliminating disposables.
-
Creating only products that are durable & reparable in case of breakage.
We continually research and develop new eco-friendly options, working closely with suppliers to integrate sustainable materials into our products. This approach allows us to offer high-quality eco friendly eyewear while contributing to a more sustainable future for our industry and our planet.
MATERIAL SUSTAINABILITY
GENERAL CIRCULAR APPROACH: Our Golden Rule
In our sustainable approach, frame production scraps are collected and regenerated. These recycled materials are then reincorporated into production, reducing waste and optimizing resource use in our manufacturing cycle.
ACETATE M49: Bio-Based Innovation in Eyewear Materials
M49 is an advanced bio-based material developed by Mazzucchelli 1849, revolutionising sustainable eyewear production. This innovative compound combines cellulose acetate with a plant-derived plasticiser, resulting in a high-performance bioplastic with significant eco-friendly properties.
Key features of M49:
- Composition:
Primarily made from renewable sources
- Base:
Cellulose acetate derived from natural cellulose
- Plasticizer:
Vegetable-origin solution, replacing traditional petrochemical plasticizers
- Environmental Impact:
Reduced carbon footprint compared to conventional plastics
- Performance:
Maintains excellent physical and mechanical properties of traditional acetate
M49 represents a breakthrough in sustainable eyewear materials, offering designers and manufacturers an eco-conscious option without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
M49 is bio-based and biodegradable: it should be noted that plastic materials from natural origins are not always biodegradable and that sometimes plastic materials from fossil sources are. The advantage of M49 is to meet both requirements.
BIO-BASED POLYAMIDES: Green Line
The Green Line includes the Grilamid TR (amorphous transparent PA), a transparent polymer in granulate form, which combines a variety of excellent properties. This product is such that specific property requirements can be achieved through modification of the material. A noble polymer with unlimited possibilities.
Renewable Raw Materials
The Green Line represents a breakthrough in sustainable eyewear production, utilizing renewable raw materials to create high-performance polymers. These innovative materials offer excellent properties comparable to traditional crude-oil-based polyamides, while significantly reducing environmental impact. The Green Line demonstrates that sustainability and quality can go hand-in-hand in modern eyewear manufacturing.
Environmental Benefits and Durability
Green Line products are derived from castor oil through advanced chemical processes, resulting in a substantial reduction of climate-damaging gas emissions – up to 75% less compared to conventional polyamides. This “cradle to gate” approach significantly lowers the carbon footprint of eyewear production. Importantly, while these materials are eco-friendly, they maintain the same durability as crude-oil based polyamides, ensuring longevity and reliability in the final product. The Green Line thus offers a sustainable solution without compromising on the long-term performance of the eyewear.
RECYCLED POLYPROPYLENE (RPP)
Polypropylene (PP) is a versatile thermoplastic polymer that belongs to the polyolefin group. rPP has valuable material properties, like high flexural and impact strength and good fatigue resistance.
Recycled polypropylene (R-PP) has a wide range of applications thanks to different molecular structures and variable degrees of crystallinity.
OUR SUPPLIER: Is one of the largest recyclers of polyethylene and polypropylene his production capability is over 1000 t/mc. Other products offered: HDPE > 2200 t/mc and LDPE >2000 t/ mc
The company is compliant with waste management regulations and has been certified regularly EUCERTPLAST; confirming the post-consumer origin of the products.
The automated process assures the repeatability and quality of the final product.
PRODUCTION PLANTS SUSTAINABILITY
Our photovoltaic system harnesses solar energy to power all manufacturing facilities and offices, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
Circular Water Economy
Our advanced water recycling system, designed specifically for production plants, significantly reduces water consumption within the production cycle. By collecting, treating, and reusing process water through advanced filtration and treatment methods, our system ensures high-quality water for non-potable applications such as cooling, rinsing, and cleaning. Real-time monitoring and automated controls optimize efficiency, leading to substantial cost savings and enhanced environmental compliance. This sustainable solution not only conserves water but also supports operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
Electric Injection Machineries
We use all-electric Injection machines created for maximum precision and efficiency. The new clamping unit generates uniform contact pressure, and the injection unit materializes superior plasticization.
The TACT V controller provides excellent operability and the rigid bed structure supports stable high-cycle operation. Self-lubricating linear bearings on the moving platen and bush-less platen design ensure cleanliness in the molding area, making the machine perfect for cleanroom environments.
